Service robot helps in the sports restaurant Obere Au
The sports restaurant will open its doors to its guests again after a successful renovation on September 30, 2022. The newly designed interior looks fresh, inviting and contains a very unusual "goodie": a service robot to support the service staff.

In the future, he will help the service staff with serving and clearing away. The lack of staff is currently a major issue in the catering industry. Questions such as how processes can be optimized or how existing employees can be relieved are just a few of the things that rack the brains of the operators.

To test the feedback from employees and guests, "Bella" has been in use since mid-August and is also spreading enthusiasm and smiling faces in the newly renovated establishment. The little helper Thomas Coray attracted positive attention at an event. "I was excited about the robot and since our main target group is families, it seemed fitting for our restaurant to inspire guests with something new and unusual."
Fields of application of "Bella"
But the robot should not only serve to amuse the guests, but also take on important tasks that should help the service staff to relieve their daily work. For example, delivering orders to tables, helping with clearing and transporting dishes to the kitchen. The staff has more time to take care of the well-being of the guest. At the beginning of the test phase, the employees of the Obere Au sports restaurant were still a little skeptical about the idea. "After the training and the advantages that the robot can provide, it was well received by our team," says Tino Rominger, restaurant manager and chef de cuisine.
The reopening after the renovation should be remembered as a "highlight" for every visitor after the sport and in the minds of the guests. The BellaBot is used indoors in the Obere Au sports restaurant and is undergoing a three-month test phase. A decision is then made as to whether the robot will be permanently integrated into what is happening on site and how it can continue to support and relieve the team in the sports restaurant.
