Rossmann Switzerland: Opening of the first branch
The first Swiss Rossmann drugstore in the Emmen Center will not be the last. In 2025, the chain plans to open more branches – with robot support.

Company and Expansion
ROSSMANN is a leading drugstore company founded by Dirk Rossmann in 1972. Since then, the company has experienced impressive expansion and now operates over 4.700 stores across Europe. The expansion into Switzerland marks a significant step for the company to conquer the Swiss market and impress customers with high-quality products.
With an excellent price-performance ratio and a wide range of products tailored to customer needs, Rossmann sets new standards in the drugstore market. The company's continuous expansion demonstrates its commitment to expanding its presence and providing customers in various countries with first-class products and services.

The first Swiss Rossmann drugstore opened in the Emmen Center in Lucerne and offers a comprehensive range of wellness, health, and beauty products on approximately 500 square meters. The store combines German and Swiss brands and offers customers attractive value for money.
With a wide selection of products and an ideal location in the Emmen Center, which offers good transport links and free parking, the store is perfect for a comprehensive shopping experience. Customers can look forward to a mix of familiar local products and popular international brands, covering all needs.

Rossmann has opened its first Swiss store in the Emmen Center near Lucerne. Central Switzerland was chosen as a strategic location to appeal to a broad customer base. The German drugstore chain has more than 4.600 stores in Europe, and a long-term plan for expansion into Switzerland has now been drawn up. Additional locations are already planned for 2025. These will have areas ranging from 400 to 700 square meters and will offer a wide range of products from German and Swiss brands.
Rossmann also wants to take local and regional characteristics into account in Switzerland, without losing sight of the overall concept. "We attach great importance to adapting our product range in Switzerland to the specific needs of our customers. We have therefore included 30 percent of typical Swiss brands in our range. This means our customers can find both familiar local products and popular international brands," says Raoul Rossmann, spokesman for the management.
Rossmann also wants to drive forward the digitalization of its stores in the new Swiss locations: In Emmen, ESLs are standard and there are also three self-checkouts.
In addition, a robot will be used in the first Swiss store: a cleaning robot from Sebotics will ensure the floors stay clean. It will be exciting to see if the technology is implemented in other stores as well!
