Rossmann opens first branch in Switzerland
The first Swiss Rossmann drugstore in the Emmen Center will not be the last. In 2025, the chain plans to open more branches – with robot support.
Rossmann has opened its first Swiss branch in the Emmen Center near Lucerne. The German drugstore chain has more than 4.600 branches in Europe, and a long-term plan for expansion into Switzerland has now been drawn up. Additional locations are already being planned for 2025. These will have areas ranging from 400 to 700 square meters.
Rossmann also wants to take local and regional characteristics into account in Switzerland, without losing sight of the overall concept. "We attach great importance to adapting our product range in Switzerland to the specific needs of our customers. We have therefore included 30 percent of typical Swiss brands in our range. This means our customers can find both familiar local products and popular international brands," says Raoul Rossmann, spokesman for the management.
Rossmann also wants to drive forward the digitalization of its stores in the new Swiss locations: In Emmen, ESLs are standard and there are also three self-checkouts.
In addition, a robot is being used in the first Swiss branch: a cleaning robot from Sebotics ensures that the floors remain clean. In the long term, Rossmann plans to use the technology in other branches.
