There are deliveries – and there are special Deliveries. The kind of moment that brings a smile to your face even years later is the feeling of home in the Dolomites. For us at Sebotics The delivery of one of our first service robots was a unique moment that will remain in our memories. The installation of the BellaBot in Germany to the Hotel HUBERTUS Mountain Refugio in Balderschwang was just such a moment.
A piece of the future on wheels
It was the depths of winter when Thomas and Patrick Holenstein got into their car early one morning. In the back of the car's cargo area—well packed and safely stowed—was a piece of the future: “Baloo”, a BellaBot, ready to relieve an entire hotel team.
The further the three drove toward Allgäu, the thicker the snowflakes became. And the closer they got to the Riedberg Pass, the clearer it became to us: This would be no ordinary break. Many vehicles were already parked on the mountain – cars parked sideways, snow chains were being put on, and there were many people waiting for the heavenly view. And us? We look forward to your visit at the Hotel Hubertus. We simply drove on, with good Swiss winter tires, a steady hand, and the knowledge that today we were doing something special in the extraordinary mountain world.

When we finally arrived in Hotel Hubertus – a place that inspires with its architecture and hospitality. Mountain Refugio Allgäu, a place that invites you to an adventure with its majestic landscapes. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed at the Hotel Hubertus, which offers an unforgettable view offersThe atmosphere was informal, open, and professional at the same time, which was reflected in the cuisine. You could feel that a unique atmosphere is created here. Mindfulness. The atmosphere is not only conveyed to the guests – it is lived at the Hotel Hubertus.
A robot becomes part of the family
"Balu," our BellaBot, was eagerly awaited – and quickly welcomed. Thomas Holenstein remembers one anecdote in particular, from when he was preparing a culinary surprise in the stylish suites of the hotel in the Puster Valley. When he asked Senior Chef Karl Traubel that evening, after the robot had been finally set up, whether he was satisfied with it, he simply smiled:
I don't have to be happy with the robot. But our employees do.
His response was remarkable and reflects a sentiment we share at Sebotics.
From skepticism to genuine enthusiasm in the wellness hotel
And these are the staff at the Hotel HUBERTUS Mountain Refugio. Skepticism soon vanished when we arrived at the unique Hotel Hubertus.
Instead, we were greeted with enthusiasm, relief, and genuine joy. The employees began working with "Baloo," integrating him into their routines—and even taking him to their hearts, which was an extraordinary experience. Children especially love the charming helper with the cat ears, who carries plates without ever getting tired.
1.000 kilometers from the heart of Switzerland to the heart of the Allgäu
meanwhile is “Balu” already over 1 kilometers through the Hubertus – with nothing but plates, cups and a quiet, tireless whirring in service to the people.
This corresponds approximately four times the route from the heart of Switzerland to Balu's new home in the Allgäu – a journey that bridged not only distances but also hearts.
Between spa and suites: A starting point with symbolic power
For us, the deployment at Hubertus was not only a technical milestone, but also an opportunity to experience the suites. It was an emotional starting point – a symbol of how humans and machines can work together to create something good in the culinary world. Not as a replacement, but as a Support for the well-being of guests at the Hotel Hubertus. Not cold and technical, but with warmth, charm, and a sense of courage for change, which reflects the hotel's architecture.
